FAQ

The system blocks the app the first time I open it?

The installers are not code-signed yet. On a Mac you will see that the developer cannot be verified; on Windows you will see “Windows protected your PC”. Follow “Blocked by the system the first time it opens” in Install and activate to allow it once; after that it opens normally.

Footage keeps processing after import?

The app is organizing frames and recognizing content in the background. With a lot of footage this takes a while; you can watch progress in the middle of the top bar and on the footage page. You can keep writing scripts in the meantime.

Nothing works because no model is connected yet?

Writing scripts, reviewing footage and making videos all need a large language model connected first. Click the gear in the top-right → “Model services”, then click “Log in” on WorkBuddy and scan with WeChat. You can also enter an API Key from a Chinese model provider. See Connect a model.

Do I need my own accounts for voiceover, transcription and AI video?

No. These come with your subscription: each seat gets an allowance every month. When it runs out, buy a top-up pack in the online console. See usage under “Subscription”.

A script is marked “Must fix”, but I think it's fine?

Click “Ignore” next to the issue. The script can still be confirmed, made into a video, delivered and published.

The video check has a must fix and I can't deliver?

Fix it as described under “Issues”, then click “Export final video”. If you really need to deliver as is, click “Deliver”, fill in “Reason for delivery (required)” on the “Confirm delivery” card, and click “Deliver anyway”. The reason is kept on record.

Clicking “Repost” says “This may already be published”?

First check the post management page in the platform's creator center. If the post is there, do not repost; the next post collection will pick it up automatically. If it is not there, click “Checked, repost”.

An account login has expired?

Go to “Settings → Accounts” and click “Scan to log in” on that account's “Expired” row.

What is “Experiment: pause scheduled health checks”?

It is under the account's “More” menu. When turned on, the daily 10:00 scheduled health check skips this account and the card shows “Pause scheduled checks”; collection and publishing carry on as usual. Use it to find out why an account keeps getting logged out. When you are done, remember to click “Experiment: resume scheduled health checks” under “More”.

Switching computers?

On the old computer, go to “Backup & restore → Back up now”. Install the app on the new computer, click “Restore from backup…”, and choose the new locations for your footage folders. Enter your activation code on the new computer, and when asked whether to use it on this computer, click “Use on this computer”.

It says “This computer's registration has changed”?

Open “Subscription” in the top-right corner and enter your activation code again.

What can Kaka do?

Almost anything you can click in the app, you can ask Kaka to do. You can also hand it a whole job, such as “make 3 mashup videos for this project”: it writes the scripts, makes the rough cut, checks and fixes its own work, and carries on through exporting the final videos, stopping only when it needs your decision. Before changing anything it shows a confirmation card, and only acts after you click “Allow”. See The interface.

The online console asks for two-step verification. How do I set it up?

Install an authenticator app on your phone, scan the QR code to link it the first time you log in, and save your recovery codes. For step-by-step instructions with screenshots, see Two-step verification.
